MONROVIA HILLSIDE WILDERNESS PRESERVE
MAY 2012 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters

I have not indicated the specific location of this outing because of the rare and endangered plant that grows there, the Braunton's rattleweed or milkvetch, Astragalus brauntonii, which is listed by CNPS as 1B.1 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere), and is also federally listed as endangered. I have only seen this species in one other location. Some of you may already know where this is, but I didn't want to contribute to its being affected in any way, although it seems to be growing in considerable abundance there. As always in these galleries, an asterisk indicates a non-native species.
