METCALF MEADOW, BLUFF LAKE MEADOW, AND LEMON LILY
SPRINGS, SAN BERNARDINO MOUNTAINS

This photo gallery displays species found during two trips to some San Bernardino localities south of Big Bear that I'd explored before and some new ones I didn't know about it. On the first outing I met Tommy Stoughton, Christine Craig and Geneveve Fyvie, who introduced me to some fascinating new species like the Botrychium and the Castilleja tenuis, and I express my appreciation to them for their time and knowledge. Metcalf Meadow on Forest Rd 2N17 and Bluff Lake Meadow on 2N10 are lovely moist expanses of grass and wildflowers, and Lemon Lily Springs is a small wet area just packed with beautiful species. The second outing was on my own to do some re-photography and to pin down some species and sub-species identifications. A few species shown here were in drier pine forest areas immediately adjacent to the meadows. An asterisk next to the common names indicates a non-native species, and as always, an upside-down V denotes a species that was new to me when I photograph-ed it on this field trip. The header photo is Metcalf Meadow, and the photo at the end of the gallery is of Bluff Lake.
