SOUTH FORK TRAIL TO DRY LAKE, SAN GORGONIO WILDERNESS
AUGUST 2008 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters

Dry Lake is a small, shallow, seasonal body of water about 1-3/4 miles south of South Fork Meadows, surrounded by the high arc of Jepson Peak, San Gorgonio Mountain, Lake Peak and Grinnell Mountain. There are two Forest Service campgrounds there used most often by people making overnight hiking trips to San Gorgonio. From Dry Lake it is a fairly easy 2 miles to Mineshaft Saddle from which you can be on the summit of Old Grayback in a couple of hours. An upside-down V next to the common name indicates a taxon that was new to me when I photographed it on this field trip. An asterisk indicates a non-native species.
