Eaton Canyon Landslide

You can see the Mt. Wilson Toll Road going diagonally uphill left to right, and you can even
make out just barely what looks like a narrow track that people have made across the slide
area. At bottom is the dirt road heading down toward the Visitor Center.




All the way down below Henninger Flats is an ancient landslide zone, so it is no surprise that
cutting into it to make a road is a problematic endeavor, leading to repeated episodes of
instability. This is the same place where a slide occurred about ten years ago. Studies are
apparently ongoing to figure out how to fix the problem, but it looks as though it will not be
anytime soon.
