WHITEWATER CANYON
APRIL 2010 PART TWO PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters
This gallery includes pictures taken on several visits to Whitewater Canyon during the latter part of April. Areas covered included part of the Canyon Overlook loop trail where I looked for the Lessingia filaginifolia found recently by Aaron Schusteff, the east side of the lower wash from the Whitewater Cutoff Road to Bonnie Bell and a small side canyon across from Bonnie Bell, and the PCT from the Visitor Center to Red Dome and farther up that side of the wash. It's ironic that I who hate wind with a passion have chosen one of the windiest places in Southern California to conduct these detailed floral surveys. The picture above was taken from that small side canyon across the Bonnie Bell area to the west side of the wash. An asterisk next to the common name indicates a non-native taxon, and a tilde (~) indicates an identification about which there remains some uncertainty. |
