SANTA YNEZ CANYON, SANTA MONICA MTS
MAY 2009 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters
This was a fairly dull and unproductive hike along a trail that should be called the Poison Oak Trail. Not much is blooming in this part of Topanga State Park, although there are interesting species which will flower later in the season such as coast boykinia and cream-bush. Not much maintenance has been done on this trail and there are places where it is a bit difficult to proceed. One branch of the trail leads to a waterfall, almost dry now, and the other eventually climbs out of the canyon to reach the Park HQ and the Dead Horse Trail. |
