MUTAU FLATS ROAD TO THORN MEADOWS, VENTURA COUNTY
JUNE 2008 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters
I am extremely grateful to Ventura County botanist David Magney of David Magney Environmental Consulting for his help in identifying many of these species which were previously unfamiliar to me and for letting me know about this amazing area that in 2008 is producing a display which due to the conjunction of the fires and the rains is unlikely to be repeated anytime soon. To get to this area, take Interstate 5 North to the Frazier Mountain area, turn west on Frazier Mountain Park Road, then south on Lockwood Valley Road, then left again on Mutau Flats Road (Forest Route 7N03, aka Grade Valley Road) and then right at a fork onto Forest Route 7N03B to Thorn Meadows. |
