LOCKWOOD VALLEY/MUTAU FLATS ROAD, VENTURA COUNTY
MAY 2008 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters

To get to this area, you exit I-5 onto Frazier Mountain Park Road at the southern part of Lebec and head west to a left turn onto Lockwood Valley at Cuddy Creek, then go south. I made several trips to this area and the flora was great due to a recent fire. I am extremely grateful to Ventura County botanist David Magney of David Magney Environmental Consulting for his help in identifying many of these species which were previously unfamiliar to me and for letting me know about this amazing area which in 2008 is producing a display which due to the conjunction of the fires and the rains is unlikely to be repeated anytime soon.
