[I have been increasingly unhappy with the key distinction between L.e. austromontanus and L.e. johnstonii, the only real difference between them being the inflorescence less than or more than 14 cm with the same blooming period and essentially the same range and habitat. I have observed that in most groupings you can find plants that fit either taxon and I really question the validity of this distinction.
