CHILAO, SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS
JUNE 2008 PAGE ONE
Photographs by Michael Charters
The entrance road to the 5,200' Chilao area is along the Angeles Crest Highway about 26 miles from La Canada. There is a nice Visitor Center and a couple of campgrounds there. Trails extend in several directions to Charlton Flat and Mt. Hilyer. [NOTE: As of February, 2022, there are still closures in this area due to the devastating Bobcat Fire of 2021. Check before going.] An upside-down V next to the common name indicates a taxon that was new to me when I photographed it on this field trip. |
