Latin name: Nemacladus longiflorus A. Gray var. longiflorus
Pronunciation: neh-MAH-kla-dus lon-ji-FLOR-us
Common name: Long-flowered threadplant
Family: Campanulaceae (Bellflower)
Habitat: Sandy or gravelly slopes or washes to 8000', South Coast, San Gabriels, San Bernardinos, and Pennisular Range
Blooming period: April to June
Name derivations: 1) Nemacladus 2) longiflorus
NOTE: It is not clear to me that N. longiflorus var. longiflorus and N. longiflorus var. breviflorus are validly separate taxa because there are many intermediate forms, but var. longiflorus appears to be more montane while var. breviflorus appears to be more desert. These pictures were taken at Idyllwild County Park in the San Jacinto Mts. See Nemacladus longiflorus var. breviflorus.
