I have decided to emulate the examples of my friends Mr. Tom Chester and Mr. Bob Allen and create a field trips log to make a short record of my botanical rambles in and around Southern California, making note of anything observed that I would like to remember or that others of similar inclination might like to know about.  Some of the entries will be detailed, descriptive and fairly extensive, while others will likely be simple and brief, mainly serving as a record for me of some quick visit or observation. This is not meant to be a complete record of all species encountered, but will include blooming species and/or anything else I feel that is noteworthy, with some locational information. My hope is to supplement the good work I have alluded to above and to provide further information for anyone seeking blooming plants in general or particular species. I wish I had started this a couple of years ago, but as they say, better late than never. And thanks to Dr. Barbara Collins for suggesting that I put links to photos in for some of the more interesting or significant species.
